August 26 marks the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. At Burnet CISD, we honor the trailblazers who paved the way and recognize the strength, leadership, and contributions of women in our schools and community. Together, we continue working toward a future of opportunity and equality for all.

📢 New this school year: In compliance with Texas House Bill 1481, students may not use personal communication devices (like phones, smartwatches, or earbuds) during the school day. This policy applies to all BCISD campuses, PK–12.

The Board of Trustees met on Monday, August 18 for their regular monthly meeting. Included on the agenda were the approval of the Tax Rate for the 25-26 school year and an amendment to the Student Code of Conduct.

Dr. Olivares brings five years of experience as a DAEP Coordinator, along with a strong background in campus administration. Throughout his career, he has championed academic achievement, positive student behavior, and meaningful connections between schools and their communities.

Mrs. Meyer’s 30-year career in education has included classroom teaching, mentoring students and teachers, coaching, and campus leadership roles. She and her family reside in the Highland Lakes area, and have been engaged in the Burnet county community for several years. Mrs. Meyer will begin in her new role later this month, and with her passion for meaningful learning experiences, building relationships, and individualized student support, we look forward to the next chapter of success for Quest High School.

The Board of Trustees met last night for their regular monthly meeting. Included on the agenda were the approval of the 2025-2026 budget, compensation plan, and benefit package.

“Mr. Freeman brings a strong foundation of leadership, relationship-building, and resilience to Burnet CISD,” said Superintendent Aaron Peña, Ed.D. “His professional experience has equipped him to manage complex responsibilities with confidence and care. His exceptional work ethic and ability to build strong connections with parents, students, coaches, and administrators uniquely position him to make a meaningful impact on our district’s culture and community.”

“Alyssa’s passion for nutrition, dedication to student-well being, and impressive background in food service management make her an incredible addition to our team,” Chief Financial Clay Goehring stated, “We’re confident that her leadership will have a lasting impact on our campuses and the students we serve.”
