Child Nutrition
Online Meal Application - Apply for Free & Reduced Price meals HERE
Families must submit a new application for free and reduced-price meals each school year. Families only need to complete ONE application per family. Families may apply anytime during the year. Children do not become eligible for free or reduced-price meals until the meal application is processed and approved by the Child Nutrition Department. Paper copies of free & reduced price meal applications are available in BMS, BHS, and QHS offices and the Child Nutrition Office. The Child Nutrition Department encourages prepayment of all meals. You may also view current purchases and deposits on the student's account at SchoolCafe.com. Online payments may be made up to $100. Families also have the option to pre-pay with cash or a check in the cafeteria.
The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires school districts to review paid lunch prices each year. This helps ensure that funding intended for free and reduced-price meals is not used to cover the cost of paid meals. Meal prices may be adjusted annually to meet federal requirements.

A La Carte Foods and Snacks
Students may purchase additional items separately from a reimbursable meal at select cafeteria locations. Available items may include snacks, beverages, or extra entrees. All a la carte foods and beverages sold during the school day meet federal Smart Snacks standards.
Families who do not want their student to purchase a la carte items may contact Mary Donica, Child Nutrition Secretary, at [email protected] or 512-715-5150.
- Burnet CISD will not deny a student a reimbursable meal because of an unpaid or negative meal account balance. The district does not impose a limit on the number or dollar amount of reimbursable meals a student may charge.
- Families with outstanding balances will receive weekly notifications and may be contacted directly regarding payment.
- A la carte items may not be charged.
- All negative balances should be paid by the last day of school. Any remaining balance, positive or negative, will carry over to the following school year.
Student Meal Account Management
- Families are responsible for the management of their students' account. All charges are required to be paid in full by the end of the school year. Positive and negative balances are carried over each school year.
- If a student withdraws or graduates with a positive meal account balance, the funds may be transferred to another student's account or refunded. Refunds may be requested through SchoolCafe or by submitting an Account Transfer Request form.
