Superintendent McBurnett's Contract Extended

School Board President Andy Feild commented, “Throughout his tenure, Mr. McBurnett has been an exceptional leader whose focus is always on doing what is best for staff, students and their families. Mr. McBurnett recognizes the areas in which we can continue to improve as a District, and he has always kept his focus on continuous improvement. Burnet CISD has made great progress under his leadership and we are looking forward to sustaining and building upon that progress over the next three years.”

Some of the accomplishments Burnet CISD has achieved during McBurnett’s tenure include:
• Development of a 3-Year Strategic Plan
• Implementation of AVID across all grade levels
• Placement on the College Board 7th Annual AP District Honor Roll
• Addition of innovative courses like Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering, Mandarin Chinese, Geometry in Construction and Culinary Arts
• Placement of School Resource Officers at all campuses
• Recognition of Burnet Middle School as a College Board SpringBoard ELA National Demonstration School
• Recipient of the HEB Excellence in Education Small School District Award
• Passage of a $26.75M Bond Proposition to improve efficiency and safety and create better learning environments for students
• Passage of a Tax Ratification Election
• Awarding of over $5.5M in private and public grants
• Awarding of Crystal Commendation TSPRA Award for Join the Journey Drug Prevention Program
• Addition of girls and boys soccer to the District’s athletic program
• Development of a Partnership with Bluebonnet Trails Community Services to Create a Drug Counseling Center
