Burnet CISD Educator of the Year Shannon Wendt has been a valuable member of the BCISD family for 18 years. She teaches students with love, care, passion and high expectations. Her driving focus in the classroom is helping students be successful no matter the challenges they may face academically, emotionally, physically or behaviorally. When entering her classroom, there is a sense of nurturing that goes beyond what most classrooms feel like. Her students feel loved and supported all while being held to the highest standards. Her classes are always full of energy and she creates a safe place for students to take risks and try new things.

Mrs. Wendt goes above and beyond to support parents and communicate with them whether it’s sending them an email or giving them a call. She has been known to send parents pictures of their child just so they can see what is going on in class or sharing a proud moment with a family from a baseball or football game she has attended in support of a student. Her level of dedication to any child she ever taught or to any other fellow educator is rare and special. One thing is for sure, no matter who you are, when you leave her class, you feel loved.

Mrs. Wendt is always learning and trying to improve her craft. Not only does she work to improve herself, but she is willing to help other educators become better at what they do. She is a leader on campus and many look to her for support and guidance.
