BHS Students State Recognitions

BHS Seniors Grace Gates and Hayden Brown were recognized for competing at the State CX Debate Contest in Austin on March 17 and 18. They earned a 5th place finish in all of class 4A in the state of Texas, and their only two losses were to the state runner up and state bronze medalist. They both leave Burnet High School as the two-time defending District Champions ('22 '23) with two straight appearances at the State Tournament as Octofinalists (2022) and Quarterfinalist (2023).  Grace also earned the Top Speaker Award at the district meets in 2022 and 2023.

The following BHS Band members were recognized for advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest that will be held in May: Caity Williams, Kaycie Banton, Emma Collins, Lauren Jones.

The following BHS Choir members were recognized for advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest that will be held in May: Ally Catlin, Trysten Copeland, Aiden Dornak, Natalia Guajardo, Serena Krueger, Abigail Pirie, Morgan Reeves, and Caity Williams.

BHS Senior Abby Smith and Maddi Moise were recognized for competing at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Meet on March 17th.  Abby, a three-time State Qualifier, finished 7th in her weight class with personal records in her squat, deadlift, and total. Maddi is a first time State Qualifier this year, finished 11th in her weight class with personal records in her squat, bench, deadlift, and total.

BHS Senior Lainey Rye was recognized for being named to the Academic All-State Elite Team by the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association. In addition to a good moral character, Lainey had to maintain a GPA from 95-97.99 (this includes grades 9-11 plus the first semester of the senior year) in order to be recognized.
