About Kurt Jones

Kurt Jones is beginning his 24th year in education and his 19th year with Burnet CISD. Jones began his teaching/coaching career in 1996 in Abilene, Texas. Coach Jones was the linebackers coach for the Burnet Bulldogs during their State Finals appearances in 2002, and 2003. In 2012 Jones was named head football coach and athletic director for Burnet CISD. Jones led the Bulldogs to a 44-36 record and 5 playoff victories in his 7 years as the head football coach.
 
Jones now serves exclusively as the athletic director for Burnet CISD. In his 7 years as the athletic director the Burnet Athletic Program has advanced every team sport to the playoffs experiencing postseason success in Football, Boys Basketball, Softball, Girls Soccer, and Girls Basketball with the ‘19-’20 Lady Dawgs Basketball team advancing to the State Tournament. In addition, both the Girls Cross Country Team, and the Girls Golf Team have advanced to the State Meet/Tournament in that time. Burnet has also seen individual athletes advance to the State Meet/Tournament in Tennis, Swimming & Diving, Cross Country, and Track & Field including several medalists under his guidance as athletic director.
 
Additionally, during the 2015-2016 school year, Jones helped to plan and advise the completion of a $1.7 million renovation to Bulldog Field. Jones also oversaw the addition of boys and girls soccer to the Burnet Athletic Program during the 2015-2016 school year.
Jones was born and raised in Brownwood, Texas. He is a graduate of Brownwood High School and Abilene Christian University. He and his wife Carrie Beth, who is an elementary art teacher, are the proud parents of a daughter, Mady, and a son, Grant.
