Game Notes
The 7th Green team played Badgers of Lampasas and started off very slow. It wasn't until the 4th quarter we began to look like ourselves and played much better. These young men are very competitive and look to get back to playing better next week. The Dogs will be playing the ponies of Marble Falls at home next Thursday.

Game Notes
The 7th B Boys basketball team scored 2 points in the first two quarters of play, and 17 points in the final two quarters. Late in the fourth quarter, they had several chances to pull ahead of Lampasas, but were unable to convert. We are proud of them for their effort, especially in the second half, and expect that they will put together a complete game very soon.

Game Notes
The 8th grade green team played a good Lampasas team on Thursday. The Dogs had a hard time finding a way defend the Badgers. Playing a much better second half the Dogs were more aggresive and played more to their potential. These young men never quit and play hard all the time. We will look to improve aas we play the Ponies of Marble Falls next Thursday.

Game Notes
The dawgs fell short to the lampasas badgers Thursday night. Our kids
fought hard like always, and have shown tremendous improvement
each week we have played basketball. It's always frustrating to lose
but learning these lessons and improving the correct way is always
a step forward. These kids love to play and are ready to redeem thereselves
next week against Llano.

From Coach Crystal Shipley:

12/7/17

The 8A Lady Dawgs traveled to Lampasas tonight. The girls started off a little shaky in the first quarter but really got after it in the second, outscoring the Lady Badgers. The third was slow on both ends of the floor but the Lady Badgers were able to score easily a few times to stretch their lead. The Lady Dawgs fought, but struggled to get things going on the offensive end. These young ladies have a lot of heart and I know they want to win. We are in a slump, but we will keep pushing and work every day to get our confidence back!

The Lady Dawgs will be on the road again next week to face the Lady Mustangs in Marble Falls next Thursday, December 14th. We could use your support! Go Lady Dawgs!!!

From Coach Griffin:

11/30/17 vs. Fredericksburg

Last Thursday night, the Lady Dawgs hosted the Fredericksburg Lady Billies. We lost to this team all three times we played them last year, so the girls were ready to fight to the finish...and fight, they did! Both teams came out strong, playing aggressive defense. Neither team was letting the other get in the paint to score, and not a lot of shots were falling from the outside. Thanks to lots of conditioning and practicing hard all week, we had several fast break opportunities where we out hustled and outsmarted the Lady Billies. The entire game was a 2 to 4 point game. Near the end of the 4th quarter, the score was tied 20-20. With 5 seconds left in the game, Madison Salinas goes up for a shot and gets fouled by a Lady Billie, sending Salinas to the free throw line. She shoots her first and makes it! The gym went wild! She shoots her second and misses, but the lane is full of Lady Dawgs and Lady Billies scrambling for the rebound just long enough to run the clock out. Lady Dawgs win by 1! I am so proud of the heart and the hustle that the girls showed throughout the entire game. There is still a lot to improve on, but the Lady Dawgs are working hard in practice every day. The girls will travel to Lampasas on Thursday, December 7th to take on the Lady Badgers. We would love for you to come out and cheer on the girls! They sure like to make it interesting!

From Coach Pegues:

On Saturday December 2nd your Bulldogs hosted the Winter Classic at the Tex Robertson Natatorium. It was a thrilling meet with lots of fast times and exciting races. Your Bulldogs, both boys and girls placed 3rd out of 10 teams.

Standout swims were: Avery McCory 1st place in the 500 free, Katelyn La Joie placed 2nd in all of her races (50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay), Ty Riley placed 3rd in his individual races (50 free and 100 free) and 2nd in his relays the 200 medley and the 200 freestyle relay.  Almost all of our swimmers beat their personal bests and two of our girls relays dropped 8 seconds off their total time. Also, Angelica Orosco placed 1st in diving and Jackson Lawrie placed 3rd.

Probably the most exciting race I've seen in awhile occurred on Saturday. It was the boys 200 freestyle relay. It came down to us and St. Dominic Savio HS.  Jordan Messer was our lead off and held his own with St. Dominic then we lost a slight lead in the 2nd leg(Justin Orosco), but he fought hard and kept us in the race. Then like lightning our third leg Maczimus Griego came barreling down the lanes and gave us a half a body length lead but then it was down to the anchors and St. Dominic had a powerful one. Ty Riley our anchor exploded off the blocks and held the lead but the St. Dominic anchor was closing in! It came down to the last touch at the wall, I looked up at the scoreboard and was crushed we had lost by .02 seconds, (basically the tip of you finger).

It was a fantastic meet overall and all the teams had a great time. Come out and see us on Saturday January 6th for our last home meet of the season.

Happy Holidays,

Stephanie Pegues

From Coach Rick Gates:

The Lady Dawgs had a great first day at the Glen Rose Tournament. We beat two good teams, Burkburnett 71-53 and Amarillo Caprock 44-39. We were extremely proud of the girls for the way they battled against Caprock. Caprock played tight, full court, man to man defense. With us playing our second game of the day and Caprock playing their first, it took a lot of heart to get the win. We will play, state ranked #16, Glen Rose this afternoon. Go Lady Dawgs!
